Lazaro Martínez is a Cuban-born contemporary visual artist, born on October 13th, 1972 in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, San Alejandro in Havana (Academia de Bellas Artes de San Alejandro), in 2004. That same year, he was invited to participate in an exhibition in Mexico City, where soon after he made his way to the United States. In 2007, he completed the seminal piece “Candangosis,” which marked his mature phase as an artist, and the beginning of the "Transferential" movement. He returns to Mexico to work and collaborate with institutions such as DIF, INMS and other private health institutions, to give artistic therapy to people with disabilities. Here he meets Cuban artists Reinier Usa Torres, Reinier Dominguez and Mexican artist Ivette Cedillo. They decide to work together, soon after forming the group Los Transferencistas, a group that creates art with a multi-media methodology stemming from architecture, dance, theater, literature, painting, video art and music. He currently works between Mexico and the United States.
