On Friday, January 20th, 2023, the exhibition "Manuscript in a Bottle" by renowned Cuban artist Arturo Montoto was inaugurated. This exhibition was conceived and coordinated by the director of MoCA-A and the artist himself, starting in August of last year.
Months were spent selecting images, planning the exhibition layout, and creating promotional materials to present a selection of the artist's latest works and showcase his working philosophy and artistic concepts.
The inauguration was attended by important gallerists and collectors from southern Florida, as well as the artist's family and friends, as well as many other artists who have always been connected to the museum or the former Kendall Art Center.
The most significant and satisfying aspect was the presence of a new and young audience, who had not previously been to our space. This is evidence of a generational renewal and the projection of the institution towards the community, with the intention of bringing diverse and contemporary artistic practices to all audiences, especially the younger ones.
The curatorial and exhibition design focus has gone beyond just presenting an artistic phenomenon and has also strived to make the artist's creative process understandable in an accessible language, from his academic training, professional studies, and philosophical and aesthetic concepts.
The exhibition will be open to the public for the rest of January and throughout February, from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm. Those who could not attend the inauguration now have the opportunity to appreciate the exhibition in much greater detail and without the inevitable distractions of social events. It is truly worth a visit.
